Mike Dyer Attends POPPA Training in New York to Help Hurt Cops

I went to Brooklyn in October to attend a twice-a-year training program of POPPA (Police Organization Providing Peer Assistance).  I’ve been involved with POPPA since 2009 and completed a 38-hour class to be a Peer Support Officer.  I’ve also completed a two-day suicide prevention program in the POPPA office called ASIST, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training.

Since 2008, Mike Dyer has been a Peer Support Officer in POPPA,  Police Organization Providing Peer Assistance.  Started in 1995 when 26 officers had committed suicide within two years, POPPA’s motto is, "They listen, talk, and assist their fellow officer, when required, in securing the right professional services."  http://poppanewyork.org
